Obituary
Remembering Bob:

A much-loved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Robert Earl 'Bob' Jones passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on December 10, 2018. Bob was born June 22, 1946 in Orange, New Jersey, the seventh child of Leonard and Lavinia (Bennett) Jones, Sr. On December 1, 1984, he married Judy Dewes. They were united in marriage for 34 years, sharing a love for Jesus Christ and one another.

Bob graduated from the Jobs Corps in Clearfield, Utah and later obtained a Bachelors Degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma where he attended on a football scholarship. Bob was a lifelong athlete. In addition to holding a black belt in jui jitsu, he was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Football Hall of Fame in 2016 to honor his participation in playing football for the Pierce County Bengals as well as a brief career with the NFL.

Bob retired as a washer operator from Simpson Tacoma Kraft in Tacoma after 32 years of service. He later took on a part-time gig as a food demonstrator for Costco in order to provide an outlet for two of his passions in life: being around people and cooking! Bob possessed an infectious belly laugh, a kind and good-hearted nature, he loved to have fun, and he loved all people. He had a fathering spirit and served as a mentor/counselor to many family members and friends. In his spare time, Bob spent countless hours in the kitchen creating recipes for his cottage business, "Bob's Homemade Specialties." To his devoted customers, he was often called "Apple Butter Bob." Bob also enjoyed action/adventure films and any of the old classic Westerns. He could recite the dialogue to any John Wayne film verbatim. Above all else, Bob had a deep and simple faith in Jesus Christ who was the anchor and cornerstone of his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Judy; one brother, Carl Edmonds; three sisters, E. Dolores (Charles) Howard; Mary Lillian Hill; and Carol (Robert) Robertson; and an Aunt, Jean Wilson. In addition, an abundance (150 or more) of grand, great, and great-great nieces and nephews to whom he was affectionately known as Uncle Robert or simply U.B. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rev. Leonard Jones, Jr. and Charles R. Edmonds; and three sisters, Phyllis Jones, Lola Bartee, and Rev. Minnie V. Haywood.
